Changes to train timetables

Network Rail are making temporary changes to final timetables, meaning times and tickets for some services, particularly at weekends, may not be made available until closer to six weeks before travel.

How do I know if my train’s timetable is affected?

We’ll show a warning symbol on all routes which have unconfirmed timetables. If you don’t see a warning, continue on your merry way as usual!

How might this affect me?

It all boils down to whether Advance fares are normally possible for your route. Not all routes offer Advance fares – shorter routes and popular commuter routes don’t, for example.

If Advance fares are normally possible for your route you may notice this ticket type isn’t available yet – they’ll be released closer to six weeks before travel. You can still book a flexible ticket now (Anytime, Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak) and just check your timetable closer to the departure date when times are confirmed. Time changes shouldn’t affect flexible tickets too much -as you can usually use the same ticket to catch an earlier or later train - but if it does, contact us and we’ll refund your ticket.

If cheaper Advance tickets are released after you’ve bought your flexible ticket, you can book that and request a fee-free refund on your original ticket. Sign up to our Ticket Alert and we’ll keep you in the loop about Advance tickets for your route.
